Candidate must be able to attend concerts, contests and trips.īachelor’s degree preferred and/or 3 years of experience accompanying choirs.

Able to travel to and from all choir related activities, concerts, contests, etc.

Provide assistance to substitute teachers by helping lead rehearsals as necessary.

Lead section rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student mistakes and problem areas, correcting mistakes and providing the right notes and rhythms.

Perform piano accompaniment for practices, rehearsals, performances, contests, etc.

Under the direction of the vocal music teacher, accompany school choirs during rehearsals and concerts, assist the director in the leading of section rehearsals and concerts, and the coaching of individuals and small ensembles, and to do other related as required.

Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors.Must be able to (drive, walk stairs, etc.).The work environment for this position includes a program environment with a moderate to high noise level.In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use instruments and equipment needed in a music program.This position is required to do light physical work.A strong commitment to support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.Must be a team player, self-starter, and follow through with assignments until completion.Strong leadership and organizational skills.Good communication and interpersonal skills.A personal knowledge of music, including performance, education, and theory.Must be knowledgeable about Salvation Army music and programs.Ability to perform with a variety of ensembles.Proficiency in choral/instrumental accompaniment.Experience with diverse styles of music.Proficiency in playing piano and/or various instruments.Other Duties as assigned by Corps Officer.Develop singers for Praise and Worship and/or choir.Provide musical instruction and/or lessons to at least two Corps individuals when programs get started.

Each of these accompaniments will usually require a rehearsal prior to the service at a time and coordinated with the Corps Officer, singers/praise team, and pianist/musician. Will provide musical accompaniment as needed for special solo or ensemble music arranged for worship services at which the pianist/musician is scheduled to play.The pianist/musician shall provide the Church with music as needed for regular and special worship services.
